As You Go… The Conversion of Paul,
Dr. Jeffrey Clark
The Big Idea: Paul’s conversion contains elements common to all conversions.
- God gifts Paul with insight.
- God gifts Paul with turning.
- God gifts Paul with transformation.
Quick Review: Looking back at your notes from this week’s teaching, was there anything that particularly caught your attention, challenged or confused you?
My Story: Describe some aspect of your conversion. Was it dramatic or gradual, an event or a process?
- Paul receives insight: how was he in opposition to God and what was the new truth he was able to see? Why is insight foundational to any or all conversions?
- Paul experiences turning: what did Paul turn away from and what did he turn toward? True or false, it is not possible to be genuinely converted without repentance. Why is such important?
- Paul is transformed: he connects with Christian community and he accepts his commission. If you claim to be transformed, how are you connecting with Christian community and responsive to Christ’s mission in your life?
Taking It Home: Write a list of 8-15 people who are in your relational circles through work, neighborhood, school, friendships, relatives and otherwise. Begin praying that God will give you opportunities to ask questions, listen and engage in spiritual conversations.
We want to extend a special welcome to visitors and guests, and we invite you to an informal reception immediately following our worship service. Pastor Jeff will meet you at the Welcome Center, where you can also receive a special gift when you turn in a Communication Card.
We are excited to present Dan Dube, Craig Voight and Chuck, Lisa and Sydney George for membership this weekend at Aspen Ridge. You will hear their faith stories shared via video. We look forward to welcoming them into our church family and hope you will take a moment to encourage each one.
PRE-SERVICE PRAYER TIME
Twenty minutes prior to each service, we will meet for a prayer time with our worship team, audio/visual team and Pastor Jeff in the front of the Celebration Center. This time is open to anyone with a heart for prayer, and you may join in freely with the circle that gathers. We seek God’s will in all matters surrounding our services and those that attend, and we welcome all who wish to participate.
If you are interested in finding out more about life at Aspen Ridge Church and how you can get involved, you are invited to the next session of The Bridge on August 19 from 4:00-7:30 PM. Contact the church office for more information.
