As You Go… Philip and the Ethiopian Eunuch
Dr. Jeffrey Clark
The Big Idea: Philip’s question leads to a favorable announcement and response.
- Context, v. 26-29.
- Question, v. 30-31.
- Announcement, v. 35
- Response, v. 36-39.
Quick Review: Looking back at your notes from this week’s teaching, was there anything that particularly caught your attention, challenged or confused you?
My Story: What are some of the best questions you have ever asked…or answered? What made those questions so valuable? How can questions change the world?
- Phillip is on mission, and God, the Holy Spirit, places him in a remarkable context. Describe this context. In what way are you on mission and what is your context?
- Phillip asks a penetrating set of questions. When was the last time you asked another person a question about faith? What question or questions did you ask? How did these questions work?
- Phillip makes an announcement to the Ethiopian eunuch. How do you speak about your relationship with Jesus Christ? What tool might you use to relay the heart of Christianity?
- How does the Ethiopian eunuch respond to this message? What public step marks off his faith commitment? Why and how is baptism important to conversion?
Taking It Home: Write a list of 8-15 people who are in your relational circles through work, neighborhood, school, friendships, relatives and otherwise. Begin praying that God will give you opportunities to ask questions, listen and engage in spiritual conversations.
We want to extend a special welcome to visitors and guests, and we invite you to an informal reception immediately following our worship service. Pastor Jeff will meet you at the Welcome Center, where you can also receive a special gift when you turn in a Communication Card.
PRE-SERVICE PRAYER TIME
Twenty minutes prior to each service, we will meet for a prayer time with our worship team, audio/visual team and Pastor Jeff in the front of the Celebration Center. This time is open to anyone with a heart for prayer, and you may join in freely with the circle that gathers. We seek God’s will in all matters surrounding our services and those that attend, and we welcome all who wish to participate.
If you are interested in finding out more about life at Aspen Ridge Church and how you can get involved, you are invited to the next session of The Bridge on August 19 from 4:00-7:30 PM. Contact the church office for more information.

Back Porch is happening now, during the summer, with a combined middle and high school student event on Thursdays. Meet at the church at 6:00 PM for a van ride to the evening’s location, returning at 9:00 PM. Students enjoy hanging out with each other in a relaxed environment with food and fun. We’re getting our hands dirty in our community at Evergreen Lake, downtown Evergreen and Marshdale on August 4. We’ll spend a half-day serving through projects to clean up our beautiful public areas. We are praying for those that serve and those that will be served. We’d love to see our church body dedicate some time to this project. Sign up in the lobby this weekend to serve our community!

Converge Rocky Mountain will host its annual hymn sing on Saturday, August 11 at 10:00 AM at Aspen Ridge Church. Lunch will follow at 12:00 PM. All are invited!
