The Big Idea: Hypocrisy and the main players.

Quick Review: Looking back at your notes from this week’s teaching was there anything that particularly caught your attention, challenged or confused you?
My Story: It’s always good to take some time once in a while to make sure hypocrisy doesn’t have a hold in any area of our lives. If you get a moment this weekend, do some self-reflection!
- It’s doubtful that Ananias recognized that Satan was influencing him. Where do you think Satan is influencing Americans behind the scenes?
- Is the term “reverence” foreign? Discuss what another good definition might be. How do you think of revering God?
- Discuss Hebrews 12: 5-7 in light of believers today. Do you think modern American Christians keep an eye out for godly discipline in their own lives?
- What do you think the effect looked like on the church after this event? How would you have felt as a member of the early church?
We welcome Pastor Kreg Kastelz as our speaker this weekend. Kreg is our Pastor of Student Ministries and will be recognizing graduating high school seniors in our services this weekend. We want to extend a special welcome to visitors and guests, and we invite you to an informal reception immediately following our worship service. Pastor Kreg will meet you at the Welcome Center, where you can also receive a special gift when you turn in a Communication Card.
HONORING ACTIVE DUTY MILITARY
The Waggoner small group will be hosting an “Active Duty Military at Aspen Ridge” table next weekend (May 26-27) in the lobby. Be sure to pick up your small soldier and prayer card to pray for our service members by name from Memorial Day through Flag Day (June 14).
SUMMER SCHEDULE CHANGES BEGIN NEXT WEEKEND
From Memorial Day weekend through Labor Day weekend, we will be adjusting our service times, with Saturday services remaining the same and Sunday services combining into one 10:00 AM service. We will resume our regular schedule in the fall. Check out Pastor Jeff’s blog post on the church website for more information.
VACATION BIBLE SCHOOL
Vacation Bible School is coming soon! On Monday, June 4 through Friday, June 8 from 9:00 AM – 12:00 PM, we will shout and cheer through God’s mighty acts of victory, along with Go Fish’s Victory curriculum. Register online and register early. Classes do fill up, and you don’t want to miss out on the biggest kids’ event of the summer! Registration will close on May 31!
OUTDOOR SUMMER SERVICES
We will have three outdoor services this summer on the second Saturdays in June, July and August. Please keep these services in your prayers and begin to think now about who you might invite. The first one will be the Saturday after VBS.
SUMMER AFFINITY GROUPS
It is starting to feel like summer around here! What better way to enjoy the summer sun than to join a summer affinity small group? Stay tuned in the coming weeks for more information on some amazing opportunities, such as fishing, jeeping, volleyball, hiking and golfing. Eric has posted a blog article with more info on our website.
Please note that although our Wednesday night dinner and AWANA have concluded, DV8 Middle School and High School will continue as normally scheduled through the end of May. Our combined Back Porch meetings will begin in June.
BABY BOTTLES ARE HERE!
During the weeks that separate Mother’s Day from Father’s Day
(May 13 - June 17), Life’s Options Pregnancy Center makes baby bottles available for your donations. Just fill the bottles with pocket change and return the filled bottles to church on Father’s Day weekend. Your small change makes a BIG difference!
FAITH DAY AT THE ROCKIES
Faith Day at the Rockies is Sunday, July 29 at 1:10 PM vs. the Oakland Athletics, with Rockies players speaking after the game. The post-game concert features Passion. Please put this on your calendar and watch for more details to come.
AUGUST 4: CHURCH-WIDE SERVICE PROJECT
We’re getting our hands dirty in our community at Evergreen Lake, downtown Evergreen and Marshdale. We’ll spend a half-day serving through projects to clean up our beautiful public areas. We are praying for those that serve and those that will be served. We’d love to see our church body dedicate some time to this project.
