The Height of Faith - Confidence Toward God
Dr. Jeffrey Clark
The Big Idea: Confidence toward God brings encouragement in the Christian way.
- Let us draw near to God, v. 22.
- Let us hold fast to our confession, v. 23.
- Let us consider how to stir up one another, v. 24.
Quick Review: Looking back at your notes from this week’s teaching, was there anything that particularly caught your attention, challenged or confused you?
My Story: This passage builds on a foundation of confidence toward God in Christ (Hebrews 10:19). How confident are you in your relationship with God? Describe your confidence level.
- The first “let us” comes in verse 22 and says, “let us draw near” to God. Describe how this passage encourages us to draw near to God. Review Hebrews 4:16.
- The second “let us” comes in verse 23 and says, “let us hold fast the confession of our hope.” When and how do believers make confessions of faith? Review Hebrews 4:14.
- The third “let us” comes in verse 24 and says, “let us consider how to stir up one another…” What does this passage mean…and not mean? What trends in our culture work against mutuality and community in the Christian way? How does Aspen Ridge seek to apply?
Taking it Home: For the next few weekends, Aspen Ridge will be elevating small groups and inviting attendees to connect with one. If you are in a small group, who can you invite to your group? Consider how you can prioritize small group life. If you are not in a group, take the initiative to sign up online today.
If you are visiting, we want to extend a special welcome to you, and we invite you to an informal reception immediately following our worship service. Pastor Jeff will meet you at the Welcome Center, where you can also receive a special gift when you turn in a Communication Card.
ASPEN RIDGE CONSTRUCTION
Thank you for your patience as our church building is undergoing extensive upgrades and renovations. If you are interested in reading more, check out our website or Facebook page. Please note that our playground is not safely accessible during portions of this remodel, and kids and parents are asked to observe signage in that area for your safety.
SATURDAYS ARE BACK!
Beginning this weekend, we’ve brought back Saturday evening services, with a new 5:00 PM start time. We hope this helps young families with dinner and bedtime situations. Check it out!
VIEW FROM THE RIDGE: ANNUAL BUSINESS MEETING
Our annual meeting this year will be held next Sunday, September 17, immediately following our 10:45 AM service. This year, there will be a baked potato bar, and coordinators are asking attendees to bring a favorite potato topping and a dessert. The meeting will follow lunch, and will feature a vote on the budget for the new fiscal year. Please join us as we look back to see what God has done and look forward to our new ministry year.
The elders are proposing the new budget for the coming 2017/18 ministry year. Copies of this budget are available in the church office so that members may be prepared to vote on September 17. If you have any questions, please contact an elder.
