The Height of Faith - “Ain’t Nothing Like the Real Thing”
Pastor Kerry Cox
The Big Idea: The Real Thing is Better than the Imitation
- The real thing is of greater ____________.
- The real thing ___________ and ______________.
- The real thing brings about real _____________.
Quick Review: Looking back at your notes from this week’s teaching, was there anything that particularly caught your attention, challenged or confused you?
- Please read Hebrews 9:23-28. How did you feel about this week’s passage?
- What did you learn about this passage from the message?
- What is God stirring up in you to apply to your daily living from this message?
We welcome Pastor Kerry Cox as our speaker this Sunday! If you are visiting, we want to extend a special welcome to you, and we invite you to an informal reception immediately following our worship service. Pastor Jeff will meet you at the Welcome Center, where you can also receive a special gift when you turn in a Communication Card.
FAMILY WEEKEND SERVICE
This weekend, we will be focusing on families during regular services. Nursery will be provided for infants and toddlers through age 3 – all other children are invited to attend with their families. Our Children's Director, Debbie Stewart, will invite kids to the front for a short and interactive children's sermon that will parallel Pastor Kerry’s message. We are excited to have this special time of worship with families!
ASPEN RIDGE CONSTRUCTION
Thank you for your patience as our church building is undergoing extensive upgrades and renovations. If you are interested in reading more, please check out recent blog posts on our website.
CHANGES ON THE HORIZON
If you did not receive the churchwide email on Tuesday, August 15, regarding Pastor Kerry and his exciting new business venture, please stop by the Welcome Center for a printed copy. Also, fill out a Communication Card so that we can check our database. Be sure to let the Cox family know how much they are loved, and continue to pray for this transition time for them and for Aspen Ridge.
VIEW FROM THE RIDGE: ANNUAL BUSINESS MEETING
Our meeting this year will be held on Sunday, September 17, immediately following our 10:45 AM service. This year, there will be a baked potato bar, and coordinators are asking attendees to bring a favorite potato topping and a dessert. The meeting will follow lunch. Please join us as we look back to see what God has done and look forward to our new ministry year.

COOK TEAMS DINNER
You are invited to an annual appreciation/welcome luncheon on August 27, at 12:30 PM, in the Celebration Center. This includes our Cook Team members from last year, as well as anyone interested in helping in the upcoming year – which begins September 6. Please RSVP by August 25 at firstname.lastname@example.org or 303.993.9358. We are looking for new team members and would love to welcome you to this important ministry!
Online registration for AWANA is now open on the church website! Our first official AWANA night is Wednesday, September 6 at 6:30 PM. This is the time to pay dues, get supplies and learn about the upcoming year, but we do ask that you register online to help the first night run smoothly. We’re also looking for parent volunteers. Training is August 30 at
6:30 PM in the Fellowship Hall. You could be a listener, secretary or helper in any of our areas. Stop by to see how you might get involved!
SATURDAYS ARE BACK!
Beginning on September 9, we’re bringing Saturday evening services back, with a new 5:00 PM start time. We hope this helps young families with dinner and bedtime situations. Coinciding with this restart, we will host a free movie night directly after the service at 6:30 PM. Our feature film will be The Case for Christ, a true story based on the worldwide best-selling book. Childcare will be provided and a light meal will be available for purchase, with proceeds supporting our DV8 Student Ministry. Invite a neighbor!
