The Height of Faith – To Get to the Other Side
The Big Idea: God provided a new covenant through Jesus Christ.
Question: What are the new covenant elements which God provided through Jesus’ death?

Quick Review: Looking back at your notes from this week’s teaching, was there anything that particularly caught your attention, challenged or confused you?
My Story: Is the language of “covenant, priests and sacrifices” foreign to you? What do those words really do for you?
- The Old Testament Israelites were very religious people, possessing the very words of God to guide how they were to live. How are we as Christians both the same as and different from those ancient people?
- God promised that He would write His laws “on [the] hearts” (Hebrews 8:10) of the recipients of His new covenant. Practically and realistically, what does that idea mean to you?
- In the Old Testament, God was experienced as the Father of the nation of Israel. But to the recipients of the new covenant He is experienced as the Father of individuals. What difference does that latter idea mean to you, in light of the former idea? Put another way, what are some benefits of experiencing God as Father of you versus God as Father of your people group?
- Which means more to you, God’s forgiveness or His blessing?
This weekend Pastor Jeff and Mary are in Dallas, TX, presiding over a wedding. A long-standing relationship from his previous ministry in Southern California has requested his participation in this special day. Thank you for praying for their safe travel! We would like to welcome Earl Waggoner as our speaker this weekend and Danny Byram as our worship leader. If you are visiting, we want to extend a special welcome to you, and we invite you to an informal reception immediately following our worship service. Earl will meet you at the Welcome Center. We also have a special gift for you at the Welcome Center when you turn in your
Communication Card from the bulletin.
Join us for prayer in the Fireside Room from 10:15 - 10:40 AM. In the month of July, Carroll See will provide servant leadership to this important service. This is a special time to pray for our weekend services, the fulfillment of the Great Commission and the advance of the gospel. All
you need to do is show up with a heart for prayer!
CONGREGATIONAL BUSINESS MEETING VOTE
On June 25, we voted to accept the Elder’s proposal from the Properties Ministry Team and it was unanimously passed. The motion was as follows: “The Elders move that we accept the recommendation of the Properties Ministry Team to replace the deteriorating wood siding of the church building with new low- maintenance stucco, fiber cement and stone siding materials. Additionally, that we authorize the Church Treasurer to secure a loan, not to exceed $250,000 to finance the project.” Work is scheduled to begin July 17 and to be completed by the end of August, weather permitting. Pastor Jeff has also written a blog post related to this upgrade, which is online at AspenRidgeChurch.org.
