MESSAGE NOTES

Reclaimed!
Isaiah 61:1-4
Todd Ickes

The Big Idea: Where does the power to change come from?

  • Know Truth.
  • Renounce Lies.
  • Reclaim Identity.
  • Live on Purpose.

DISCUSSION QUESTIONS

Quick Review: Looking back at your notes from this week’s teaching, was there anything that particularly caught your attention, challenged or confused you?

Discussion Questions:

  1. Why do some Christians thrive, while others struggle? Give an example of a Christian you know that thrived/is thriving. What do you see them doing consistently?
  2. Who is responsible for producing fruit: The vine or the branch? John 15:1-17 (Apart from Me, you can do nothing) Who is doing the work in my life…me…or God? If God is doing the work in my life…then what is my role?
  3. What is the Holy Spirit’s role in my life? Do I recognize the Holy Spirit’s voice in my day-to-day life? Give an example of how the Spirit has changed you in a way that you couldn’t have on your own.

NEWCOMERS RECEPTION

We welcome one of our own, Todd Ickes, founder and director of Reclaim Ministries as our speaker today. If you are visiting, we want to extend a special welcome to you, and we invite you to an informal reception immediately following our worship service. Todd will meet you at the Welcome Center, where you can also receive a special gift when you turn in a Communication Card.

TIME AWAY

Pastor Jeff and Mary are on a family vacation in Marquette, Michigan, near the shore of Lake Superior. This will include time with family and visits to extended family. It will include hiking, boating, fishing, reading and traveling. For most of the trip, Pastor Jeff will be away from cell phone reception and internet connections. If you have a need or occasion for pastoral support, please contact Pastor Kerry Cox or Kreg Kastelz. Pastor Jeff returns the weekend of August 13.

CONTINUING COMMUNICATION

If you haven’t visited our website lately, you may be missing out on some great information! Pastor Jeff has recently written several blog posts, full of information and messages from his heart. These include upcoming changes to Saturday evening services, siding updates and an annual report. If you want the latest news, this is a great place to find it!

Further, we will be hosting two orientation meetings (and you may choose one to attend). These include Sunday, August 13, at 10:15 AM and at 4:00 PM in Pastor Jeff’s office.
