The Height of Faith – Entering Rest
Jesus offers a greater rest.
- Rest Defined
- Rest Promised
- Rest Demonstrated
- Rest Offered
Quick Review: Looking back at your notes from this week’s teaching, was there anything that particularly caught your attention, challenged or confused you?
- Besides sleep, share with your group where you go and what you do when you need rest and renewal?
- Take time to remember some of the milestones in your life where God showed up big time. How do these give you assurance (rest) that He will be there in the future? Share some of these with your small group.
- What are some of the obstacles we encounter that cause us not to rest in Christ or reflect on the perfect works Christ has done for us.
- Discuss the tension in v.4, between the rest that Christ gives us and the fear of failing to reach it.
Taking it Home: Hebrews 4:2 says the “good news came to us as to them.” Find a time in the next week when you can rest and reflect on past and present things God has done for you.
We welcome one of our own, Norm Lewis, as our speaker this weekend. If you are visiting, we want to extend a special welcome to you, and we invite you to an informal reception immediately following our worship service. On Saturday, Pastor Jeff will be available in the Celebration Center, and on Sunday, he will meet you at the Welcome Center.
Aspen Ridge will be coordinating a time of prayer for our ministry and weekend services. We will begin this weekend, meeting downstairs in the fireside room from 10:15 to 10:40 AM. We welcome you to connect with this important ministry and to receive all that God has to give
CONGREGATIONAL BUSINESS MEETING
There is a scheduled business meeting, which will span two time slots – Saturday, April 22 at 7:00 PM and Sunday, April 23 at 10:00 AM. Please mark your calendars, as we will be discussing a proposal on how to proceed with building upgrades.
Aspen Ridge will be conducting a baptism weekend April 8/9. This is in the way of Jesus’ Great Commission “…make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Spirit.” If you are interested in being baptized, you may contact a church
leader or a member of our pastoral staff. Further, we will be hosting two orientation meetings (and you may choose one to attend). These include Saturday, March 18 at 5:00 PM and Sunday, March 26 at 8:00 AM.
