The Height of Faith - What Are We Doing?
Dr. Jeffrey Clark
Question: What does worship look like among pilgrims in the Christian way?
Worship is NOT…
Material things & places
Celebrating in God’s city
Company of faith
Meeting with God in Christ
Quick Review: Looking back at your notes from this week’s teaching, was there anything that particularly caught your attention, challenged or confused you?
My Story: Can you identify an “Aspen Ridge” gathering for corporate worship that was especially meaningful for you? What made it so memorable?
- Review what corporate worship is NOT: material things, law-keeping or fear. How can you resist these associations?
- Review what corporate worship IS: celebration, gathering and meeting with God in Christ. What are some “God sightings” that your small group can celebrate?
- We intend our weekend services to be oriented toward believers in a way that is intentionally accessible to outsiders. How likely are you to invite an outsider to our weekend services?
- There is some responsibility our church will take for a fruitful ministry of a prospective Pastor of Worship Arts. Review our responsibility.
Taking it Home: Please take a portion of time in your small group to pray for the search for an Associate Pastor of Worship Arts. Ask God to lead the Aspen Ridge search team and prospective candidates. Pray for God’s leadership, favor and guidance on the process, and a favorable result in a timely manner.
If you are visiting, we want to extend a special welcome to you, and we invite you to an informal reception immediately following our worship service. Pastor Jeff will meet you at the Welcome Center, where you can also receive a special gift when you turn in a Communication Card.
This weekend we will give an intentional focus to the subject of worship in general, and corporate worship for Aspen Ridge in particular. We will be giving an update on the progress of our search for an Associate Pastor of Worship Arts by introducing important people in the search process. We will also provide an important occasion for God’s leading in this matter. Thanks for the support during this “in between” season and search.
Wanted: A dependable person wanting to make a little money shoveling the snow off the sidewalks at the church. This will require you to have the walks cleared by 7:30 AM each time we receive snow. Please contact our head of Properties Ministry, John Briley, at email@example.com or 832.466.2214.
Aspen Ridge Church has a rental property available for immediate occupancy. This property is a 2300 sqft, 3BR/3BA house with a 2-car garage. If you or someone you know might be interested in this opportunity, please contact Shephard Realty at 303.674.3343.
DECEMBER SERIES: HE CAME
Beginning November 24/25, we will be celebrating the holiday season and the birth of Christ with a special Christmas series, looking at the mystery and wonder of Christ’s coming. We look forward to celebrating the heart and essence of our faith together this Christmas season. Many of our neighbors are more open to things of faith during this time of year. Would you consider inviting someone to share in this joy alongside you?

DV8 HOLIDAY SCHEDULE
Our middle and high school gatherings will be cancelled the week of Thanksgiving. Please use this time to spend with family and to thank God for all He’s blessed you with!
BOOK REVIEW CLUB
A group is gathering on November 20 to discuss and review Eric Metaxas’ book, Martin Luther. We invite anyone interested to read the book and join us at 5:30 PM in the church library for a great discussion.
WEDNESDAY NIGHT DINNER
This week, our regularly scheduled dinner and activities are suspended for the Thanksgiving holiday. We will resume our regular schedule on November 29. Have a wonderful Thanksgiving!
BIRD IS THE WORD: COMMUNITY DINNER
On Sunday, November 19 at 6:00 PM, we will host our annual Thanksgiving dinner. We will be setting up tables and chairs immediately after the morning services, if you can stay and lend a hand. This event continues to be a great community outreach to invite neighbors to find a home in Christ together. There will even be a gluten-free table! There is no cost to attend, just come and enjoy!
The first Soup’er Saturday was a success! The next Soup’er Saturday will be on December 2, immediately following the evening service. A variety of soups will be available, including a kid-friendly option. There is no cost, and all are welcome. Contact Jodie Cates at 303.250.3852 or firstname.lastname@example.org if you would like to help with this event.
OPERATION CHRISTMAS CHILD
We delivered approximately 260 Operation Christmas Child boxes to be sent around the world! Thank you to all who participated and especially to Carol Battersby for over-seeing this ministry event.
In the weeks to come, Pastor Jeff will provide an “Aspen Ridge update” that you will receive if we have your mailing information. We will be sending out a Churchteams email soon with a link to update your information in our database. Please make sure we can keep in touch!
