DISCUSSION NOTES

Quick Review: Looking back at your notes from this week’s teaching, was there anything that particularly caught your attention, challenged or confused you?

Perceptions: How did you feel about this topic… before this message was even heard? How did the message reinforce, challenge or adjust your feelings on this topic? What point did you feel most strongly about?

Learning: What did you learn about this topic that perhaps you didn’t know before? What portion(s) of this message brought valuable review or insightful perspective? How did this topic develop a Christian “way of thinking” that challenges your view of the world?

Life Change: Where do you need to apply the big idea behind this message? How could this application show up in your life? What difference will this message make going forward? Where do you need help and support in making personal life changes?

NEWCOMERS RECEPTION

We welcome Hunter Headley, our Director of Student Ministry, as our speaker this weekend. If you are visiting, we want to extend a special welcome to you and invite you to an informal reception immediately following our worship service. On Saturday, Hunter will be available in the Celebration Center, and on Sunday, he and his wife, Lauren, will meet you at the Welcome Center.

VIEW FROM THE RIDGE

We are hosting our annual “View from the Ridge” on Sunday, September 20, in the Celebration Center, complete with potluck lunch. This event is dedicated to celebrating what God has done in the past ministry year and prayerfully discerning how He is leading us into His future. Church leadership will recommend the following for our elder board: Mike Kelly, Justin Cates and Nathan Boller. Further, we will propose a new budget for our upcoming fiscal year. We encourage all who consider this church their home to prioritize attendance at this important event.

BAPTISM CELEBRATIONS

We celebrate with those who have taken the step of baptism this weekend: Clara Kuck, Kemper Kuck and Rozilynn Roberson.

RIDGEFEST 2015

Please check out our website to register as a vendor. We would love to fill our lot with local opportunities! We also plan to have fun activities for children and adults again this year…so get ready for hay rides, a bounce house and a dunk tank!

VOCAL ENSEMBLE

Beginning on September 20 from 8:00 – 9:00 AM, we will begin practices for our vocal ensemble in the Celebration Center. After Thanksgiving, this group will be performing Christmas music at several locations. All ages, high school and up, are welcome and no experience is necessary. We look forward to spreading the good news of the Gospel through Christmas music through our community. Please contact Pastor Kerry at Music@AspenRidgeChurch.org to express interest.

RENTAL OPPORTUNITY

Kerry Cox and his family are moving out of the rental property owned by Aspen Ridge and into a newly purchased home in Evergreen. Our rental property is a 3BR, 3BA house with a 2-car garage and approximately 2300 sqft. It will be available for rent in September. If you have any questions or if you might be interested in this opportunity (or know someone who would), please contact the church office.

SMALL GROUPS

Stop by the table in the lobby this weekend for details about our various small groups that will begin during the week of September 13. There are sermon-based and topical groups, including a new start for The Bridge and The Trailhead. A small group is not just another commitment, it’s a place where you can truly connect with and live life alongside others who are seeking to know more about Christ. You can also sign up online through our mobile page, AspenRidgeChurch.org/mobile.

THE BRIDGE

Are you new to Aspen Ridge Church? Are you wondering how to take the next step? We have a small group just for you. It's called “The Bridge," and it is a 6-week orientation to church life. Todd & Victoria Ickes will be leading this group and would love to follow up with you personally. Please indicate your interest on a communication card.

PRECEPTS BIBLE STUDY

An 8-week Precepts Bible Study will begin on September 19, from 8:30 – 10:30 AM on the Aspen Ridge Church campus. The study is from 2 Peter and the workbook cost is $18. Please contact Dottie Manchette at 303.697.9141 with any questions or to purchase a workbook.

FALL MINISTRY FEATURE
Moms In Prayer

Moms In Prayer is an important ministry in the life of our church. Moms get together weekly in local groups and pray for their children! They meet on Monday mornings from 9:30 – 11:00 AM and/or on Wednesday evenings from 6:30 – 8:00 PM. The Monday sessions have already begun and the Wednesday sessions will begin on September 9. Imagine the impact of these prayers for a generation of children!

Summer Experiment
Jeffrey Clark
Apr 2, 2018

There is a rhythm, an ebb-and-flow, to church life and attendance patterns. Summer includes opportunities for people to enjoy the outdoors and, in some cases, to take much needed vacations. In our Evergreen community, summers are also a time for people to move into our area and/or look for a local Christian Church. With our emphasis on “Being Contagious” with our Christian faith in our small groups this Spring, we want to provide additional opportunities for Christian witness this summer. In light of this we will…

Be Contagious
Jeffrey Clark
Mar 27, 2018

The early Christian Church had a notable beginning…after Peter’s message, many received the gospel message and were baptized. In fact, the early church added to its fellowship about 3,000 souls. After the early church formed a network of small groups, Christian faith remained “contagious,” and the Lord added to their number day by day those who were being saved (Acts 2:47).

What basic facts exist about Jesus?
Jeffrey Clark
Mar 15, 2018

Jesus Christ is a polarizing figure. Say the name “Jesus Christ” in conversation and see what happens: you will experience many and wide-ranging reactions. Not everybody agrees about Jesus’ identity and not everybody is in the same place in relationship to Jesus.

Preaching Team

In 2016, I asked the Aspen Ridge elder board for permission to develop a “preaching team” that would share weekend teaching and preaching opportunities. The rationale for this proposal was bound up in a number of important factors...

Security in Prayer

First, we should acknowledge the evil that exists in our world and our culture. This takes the form of resistance against, and sometimes violence toward, the gospel of Jesus Christ. We were never promised that following Jesus was without danger or hardship.
