Follow Me – The Approach
Dr. Jeffrey Clark
Question: How does one approach God in a way that receives His best?
- Erroneous ideas about approaching God…
- Respect an order in God’s redemptive plan.
- Receive God’s challenge with humility.
- Respond to God’s invitation with boldness.
Quick Review: Looking back at your notes from this week’s teaching, was there anything that particularly caught your attention, challenged or confused you?
Perceptions: How did you feel about this topic… before this message was even heard? How did the message reinforce, challenge or adjust your feelings on this topic? What point did you feel most strongly about?
Learning: What did you learn about this topic that perhaps you didn’t know before? What portion(s) of this message brought valuable review or insightful perspective? How did this topic develop a Christian “way of thinking” that challenges your view of the world?
Life Change: Where do you need to apply the big idea behind this message? How could this application show up in your life? What difference will this message make going forward? Where do you need help and support in making personal life changes?
If you are visiting, we want to extend a special welcome to you and invite you to an informal reception immediately following our worship service. On Saturday, Pastor Jeff will be available in the Celebration Center, and on Sunday, he and his wife, Mary, will meet you at the Welcome Center.
Bulletin announcements can only say so much. We'd love to continue conversations with you online, through our Facebook page and our website. Comment on Pastor Jeff's latest blog entry, check out pictures from DV8 Student Ministry’s trip to CIY and let us know how we can be in prayer for you. We believe church is more than just a weekly gathering!
It may be that you are interested in baptism for yourself or a family member. Our next baptism will be the weekend of August 29-30. Please be in touch with church leadership by August 15 if you would like to participate in the next baptism weekend!
ISLAM AND THE AMERICAN CHRISTIAN
Do you know a Muslim or have a Muslin friend? Are you interested in discovering the three reasons Muslims differ with the fundamentals of the Christian faith…and in knowing how Christians can influence Muslims like Jesus would? Please join us the weekend of August 1- 2 as Jim Ardill, one of our missionary partners, provides answers to these important questions during our services.
KID’S GUITAR CAMP

Middle school and high school students, please join us on Wednesday, July 29, for bowling at Boondocks Fun Center. The cost is only $15 for 3 hours of unlimited bowling! We will leave the church at 3:30 PM and will return around 9:00 PM. If you plan to attend, please use the Signup Genius listed on the DV8 Facebook page or in Hunter’s last parent email.
Also, we will be at the Welsh’s home on Thursday, July 30, from 6:00 to 8:00 PM for Back Porch. Vans will leave the church promptly at 6:00 PM.
The balance of July will see Dr. Jeffrey Clark taking us through an enlightening look at the Kingdom of God through the teachings of Jesus. Historically, Christians have viewed the Kingdom of God in many varied and diverse ways – but the real question is, “How and what did Jesus teach us on this very important topic?”
MOPS YARD SALE
Aspen Ridge Mothers of Preschoolers are hosting their annual yard sale on August 8, from 8:00 AM – 2:00 PM. If you have items you would like to donate, please contact them to arrange a drop-off time in the church annex. They will also be collecting items in the student center during the week prior to the sale. Support our MOPS ladies and the amazing outreach that they provide to families in our community!
TASTE OF CHRISTMAS
For nearly 20 years, our church has been pleased to host “Taste of Christmas” – a Women’s Ministry event. This is usually held on or around the first Monday in November, as an introduction to the holiday season. Due to transitions within the life of our church, this event is currently leaderless. We believe that if God intends us to continue this ministry, He will provide leadership. If you have a suggestion or a recommendation toward that end, please contact the church office by August 16.
