Follow Me – The Call
Question: Are you listening for the call of Jesus?
- Jesus calls.
- They immediately follow.
- Are you listening/following?
Quick Review: Looking back at your notes from this week’s teaching, was there anything that particularly caught your attention, challenged or confused you?
Perceptions: How did you feel about this topic… before this message was even heard? How did the message reinforce, challenge or adjust your feelings on this topic? What point did you feel most strongly about?
Learning: What did you learn about this topic that perhaps you didn’t know before? What portion(s) of this message brought valuable review or insightful perspective? How did this topic develop a Christian “way of thinking” that challenges your view of the world?
Life Change: Where do you need to apply the big idea behind this message? How could this application show up in your life? What difference will this message make going forward? Where do you need help and support in making personal life changes?
Our Director of Student Ministries, Hunter Headley, will be sharing the message during services this weekend. If you are visiting, we want to extend a special welcome to you and invite you to an informal reception immediately following our worship service. On Saturday, Hunter will be available in the Celebration Center, and on Sunday, he and his wife, Lauren, will meet you at the Welcome Center. (Pastor Jeff and Mary are away on a one-week vacation. Any pastoral concerns should be directed to the Aspen Ridge staff.)
MINISTRY MENU UPDATES
Thank you to all of those who participated in our ministry menu ingathering for the upcoming ministry year! Our ministry team leads are beginning the process of contacting those who have expressed interest, and plans are underway for informational and orientation events to help illuminate paths for volunteers. On June 28, at 9:00 AM, we will be hosting a preliminary orientation to get everyone moving in the same direction. Stay tuned for details in the coming weeks!
We continue to see significant interest in following Christ into the waters of baptism. Our next baptism service will be during the weekend of July 11-12. If you are interested, the first step is to secure an interview with one of our pastors or church leaders. We will finalize our list of participants on July 5. THE GATHERING June’s Gathering will highlight retired Army Chaplain Ken Pfeiffer as he leads discussions through a lighthearted and challenging look at Cat & Dog Theology. A dog says “you pet me, feed me, shelter me, love me – you must be God”. A cat conversely says “you pet me, feed me, shelter me, love me – I must be God”. The traits of cats (you exist to serve me) and dogs (I exist to serve you) are often similar to the attitudes we have towards God. Experience this study that will challenge your thinking in deep and profound ways.
ABOVE AND BEYOND
Last month, due to unusually wet weather, we experienced some flooding in the downstairs Fellowship Hall. A team of men stepped up to assist in working around the clock to minimize damage. A huge “thank you” goes out to Bruce Reinoehl, Chris McGinnis, Bun Tadlock, Eric Marshall, John Powell, Mike Kelly, Mike Fuester, Daniel Sheffer and Jeff Goodwin for serving our body in this way. Thank you to John Robinson and Ben Roberson for their crucial support, as well. What an amazing example of servant-leadership!
Vacation Bible School begins this Monday! Online registration is now closed, but we will accept registrations at the door unless and until classes are full. We are so excited to fill this campus with children, teachers and volunteers. It’s going to be a blast! Also, don’t forget that those who are volunteering must attend a training session after this weekend’s Sunday services, if you did not attend last week’s session. It’s time to JUMP IN!
SPONSOR A DV8 STUDENT
Please stop by the table in the lobby this weekend to sponsor a student going to Christ in Youth (CIY) in Durango, June 22-26. The bag will have information about continued prayer opportunities for that student, as well as snack items you can return in the bag before the trip. After all, they are teenagers! This is a meaningful way for you to show our teens that their church family loves and supports them. Last year, the teens were blown away by the response to this activity – don’t miss out!
DV8 MINISTRY OPPORTUNITIES DV8
Student Ministry is looking for drivers this summer for some exciting events. Please contact Hunter Headley for a list of activities and to see if you are a good fit. This summer is a great time for our students to invite friends that may not yet know about life in Christ – you can be a part of changing lives!
BABY BOTTLES CAN HELP “CHANGE” OUR COMMUNITY
There are only two weeks left to fill baby bottles. Please collect your change from the dresser, car console, laundry room and kitchen counter, and return the filled bottles to church during the weekend of Father’s Day, June 21. Thank you for helping Mountain Area Pregnancy Center “change” our community one coin at a time!
