DISCUSSION QUESTIONS

Quick Review: Looking back at your notes from this week’s teaching, was there anything that particularly caught your attention, challenged or confused you?

Perceptions: How did you feel about this topic… before this message was even heard? How did the message reinforce, challenge or adjust your feelings on this topic? What point did you feel most strongly about?

Learning: What did you learn about this topic that perhaps you didn’t know before? What portion(s) of this message included valuable review or insightful perspective? How did this topic develop a Christian “way of thinking” that challenges your view of the world?

Life Change: Where do you need to apply the big idea behind this message? How could this application show up in your life? What difference will this message make going forward? Where do you need help and support in making personal life changes?

NEWCOMERS RECEPTION

If you are visiting, we want to extend a special welcome to you, and we invite you to an informal reception immediately following our worship service. On Saturday, Pastor Jeff will be available in the Celebration Center, and on Sunday, he and his wife, Mary, will meet you at the Welcome Center.

AN ADDITIONAL SERVICE IN 2016!

We are excited to announce that beginning January 10, we will be adding an additional worship service to our weekends. You can join us on Saturdays at 6:00 PM or on Sunday mornings at 9:00 or 10:45 AM. We see this additional worship service as one way to realize our dream that everyone in our community would experience God’s love, through the people who make up Aspen Ridge Church. We are encouraging our people to worship in one hour and serve in another!

CONTINUING THE CONVERSATION

Did you know that we post the bulletin online each week, so that you may access it easily? Have you checked out Pastor Jeff’s blog post about this series or about the recent Town Hall meetings? There is a wealth of information online to help keep you connected and aware. Check it out at AspenRidgeChurch.org!

ASPEN RIDGE FAMILY

From the Elder Board: As 2015 comes to a close, we celebrate our Savior’s birth and praise our Father for every good and perfect gift. Reflecting on the great things happening at Aspen Ridge, we need to remember those who unselfishly serve us week in and week out. We will be collecting a love offering during these last weeks of December and will then present a gift to the staff as an expression of our appreciation. Please note “Staff Gift” on your check and place it in the offering by December 25.

WINTER SERMON SERIES

The title of our winter sermon series is “Lend Me Your Hope” from 1 Peter. The Apostle Paul says “So now faith, hope and love abide, these three…” We hear more than a little about God’s love and human faith, but we don’t always hear about hope; few things are more important in building a life with staying power. We are excited to start the new year with a message of hope!

DV8 CHRISTMAS HAPPENINGS

On December 22, at 5:00 PM, we will be heading on a trip to see the display at Denver Zoo Lights. The cost is $15, but students should bring extra money for snacks and hot cocoa.

CHRISTMAS EVE SERVICES

Our Christmas Eve services will be held at 3:30 and 5:00 PM, and we would love to celebrate this special time with old and new friends, rejoicing in the birth of Jesus and in our “family tree.” This is a time where we see many faces that we may not see during other times of the year. If you see a new face, say “hello!” We all have a part to play in welcoming visitors and sharing the love of Christ.

WEEKLY ACTIVITIES

During this holiday season, our regularly scheduled activities take breaks to allow families to travel and spend extra time together. Wednesday night activities will resume during the week after New Year’s, and others may modify schedules, as well. Please check the calendar on our website for the most current information.

A GATHERING WITH THE KRAAKEVIKS

You are invited to an evening of fellowship and carols with the Kraakevik family on Wednesday, December 30, from 7:00 – 8:30 PM. They will be in the Student Center, and all of their children will be in attendance. “Come join us as we celebrate the birth of our Savior and renew old friendships!”

THE BRIDGE

Are you new to Aspen Ridge Church? Do you have questions about ministries and where you may fit in? There’s a new session of “The Bridge” starting in January. Karl and Katrina Atkinson will be hosting this small group and would love to meet you. The start date is January 10, at 10:45 AM in the Prayer Room. You can request more information via our Communication Card or through the church office.

Summer Experiment
Jeffrey Clark
Apr 2, 2018

There is a rhythm, an ebb-and-flow, to church life and attendance patterns. Summer includes opportunities for people to enjoy the outdoors and, in some cases, to take much needed vacations. In our Evergreen community, summers are also a time for people to move into our area and/or look for a local Christian Church. With our emphasis on “Being Contagious” with our Christian faith in our small groups this Spring, we want to provide additional opportunities for Christian witness this summer. In light of this we will…

Be Contagious
Jeffrey Clark
Mar 27, 2018

The early Christian Church had a notable beginning…after Peter’s message, many received the gospel message and were baptized. In fact, the early church added to its fellowship about 3,000 souls. After the early church formed a network of small groups, Christian faith remained “contagious,” and the Lord added to their number day by day those who were being saved (Acts 2:47).

What basic facts exist about Jesus?
Jeffrey Clark
Mar 15, 2018

Jesus Christ is a polarizing figure. Say the name “Jesus Christ” in conversation and see what happens: you will experience many and wide-ranging reactions. Not everybody agrees about Jesus’ identity and not everybody is in the same place in relationship to Jesus.

Preaching Team

In 2016, I asked the Aspen Ridge elder board for permission to develop a “preaching team” that would share weekend teaching and preaching opportunities. The rationale for this proposal was bound up in a number of important factors...

This year, Aspen Ridge will focus on a new and different type of teaching series alongside our celebration of the Christmas holidays. Our series, "He Came," describes why the Son of God became flesh, entering this broken world.

Security in Prayer

First, we should acknowledge the evil that exists in our world and our culture. This takes the form of resistance against, and sometimes violence toward, the gospel of Jesus Christ. We were never promised that following Jesus was without danger or hardship.
