Quick Review: Looking back at your notes from this week’s teaching, was there anything that particularly caught your attention, challenged or confused you?
My Story: Identify some of the greatest speeches ever given. These may come from political, civic or religious leaders. Where do you place Jesus’ message the “Sermon on the Mount” among these? What is it about this message that makes it so important?
- In describing the public ministry of Jesus, Matthew begins with the words (chapters 5-7) and then the works (chapters 8-10) of Jesus Christ. Why do the works follow the words? In what way are words important in explaining or interpreting works?
- What are two indicators (5:1-2) that Jesus teaches with authority? What kind of weight do you give Jesus’ words? How does this compare with/to the balance of the words in the Bible?
- It appears that Jesus was speaking to his disciples. What is a disciple? Where would you locate yourself on the journey of finding a home in Christ?
Taking It Home: This message has to do with God’s kingdom (4:23). How does the kingdom of God change everything about the way you live your life? What do the beatitudes (5:2-12) say about how you can set your heart on the kingdom of God?

THANK YOU FOR LANDSCAPE WORK!
We would like to thank the small groups and others that participated in our landscape work day, “Ya Dig” last weekend. Many volunteers worked hard for several hours on our landscaping projects. We appreciate your efforts and are excited to see our campus looking better and better!
NEW ATTITUDE MINISTRY MENUS
It is not too late! If you did not get your Ministry Menu turned in last weekend, we are happy to receive them in the church office.
We remember the debt we owe to those who have sacrificed for the sake of our Country’s freedoms, especially our freedom to assemble in corporate worship. We honor those who have served and are serving in our Armed Forces and ask you to stop by the table in the entryway to see those from our congregation who are involved. Military families, we have a free gift for you!
WEIRD ANIMALS ON THE LOOSE!
Vacation Bible School days are quickly approaching, and on June 9, you will find "Weird Animals" taking over the campus! Will you be one of them? Join us on an adventure as we seek Jesus' one-of-a-kind love! Children can be pre-registered online, and adults and teens can sign up in the lobby to volunteer. Don't miss out on this amazing summer event!
We are continuing “The Truth Project” for the next several weeks. Any and all are welcome to join us for this exciting study. This week we are looking at history. Come and check out this educational, stimulating and truthful series.
Our third Date Night Fundraiser will be this coming Friday, May 30 from 5:00 – 9:00 PM. Please help us get the word out as we raise funds for our Christ In Youth trip to Nebraska in July, and as we help parents take a well-deserved night out.
