New Attitude - Stop Going to Church
- A Proper Mindset: don’t think too highly of yourself v.3
- The Evidence of a Proper Mindset: actively using the gifts God has given you vs. 4-8
Quick Review: Looking back at your notes from this week’s teaching,
was there anything that particularly caught your attention, challenged
or confused you?
- Do you think our language of “going to church” or “I attend ____________ church” is a stumbling block to how we think about church?
- In what ways has God gifted you? How do you know?
- Do you feel you are able yo use your gifts in service of the church? Why or why not?
- What keeps you from using your gifts and being involved to a full extent in the life of the church?
Pastor Jeff and Mary are attending an orientation meeting for their son David at Colorado Mesa University in Grand Junction this weekend. Further, they will attend a Converge meeting for lead pastors in Beaver Creek beginning Monday. Please pray that they have a meaningful time with their immediate family and with our Converge Rocky Mountain movement.
Join us in welcoming Dave Mathewson for the weekend services. If you are visiting today, we want to extend a special welcome to you and invite you to an informal reception immediately following our worship service. On Saturday, Dave will be available in the Celebration Center, and on Sunday, Dave and his wife Joyce will meet you at the Welcome Center in the entryway.
Are you interested in being baptized? We will have two orientation meetings, one on May 3 at 5:00 PM and another on May 4 at 9:00 AM in Pastor Jeff’s office. We ask that you attend one of these meetings to participate. For more information, please contact the main office.
A NEW PRAYER TEAM
If you have an interest in our Children’s Ministry, please join Shira Hamilton on Wednesday evenings right after dinner to pray. We are seeking wisdom and direction for this ministry’s vitality and upgrades.
The Aspen Ridge campus has been divided into 8 landscaping zones, and we need YOUR help. Adopt a zone with your family or small group, and “dig in” with us on May 17 from 8:00 AM – 1:00 PM! If you’ve got aspen trees that can be transplanted from your yard, let us know. We will be accepting those on campus from May 12 – 16. We’d love to give them a home on our property. Please contact Diana Blake to sign up. Find out more on our website.
As we continue our six-week series that encourages us to use our God-given talents and abilities to serve, prayerfully consider where you may volunteer within the church. If you did not receive the packet associated with this series, they are still available in the church office and extra menus are available in the literature stands in the entryway.
VACATION BIBLE SCHOOL – SAVE THE DATE
June 9-13, 2014, kids will experience and be empowered by all of the unexpected and yes, weird ways that Jesus demonstrated unconditional love. From healing lepers to washing the feet of his disciples, the Bible is filled with accounts of Jesus’ one-of-a-kind love! Please pray with us for this exciting event and mark your calendars to volunteer.
Hey Teens! What are you doing for your Mother on Mother's Day? Are you broke and don’t know what to get her? Well then, come with DV8 on our “Celebrate Moms” hike! Meet here at the church on May 10 at 12:45 PM, and ride with us to go on a beautiful hike, just you and your Mommy!
NATIONAL DAY OF PRAYER – MAY 1
In the spirit of 2 Chronicles 7:14, local churches are encouraged to fast in the days leading up to the National Day of Prayer. Then on Thursday, May 1, we are invited to The Place in downtown Evergreen to worship and pray for our nation throughout the day. We want to come as one united heart before our Father on that day. Aspen Ridge Church will also host a prayer gathering on May 1 at 7:00 PM in the Fellowship Hall. Childcare will be provided. All are invited!
ADULT GUITAR CLASS
If you are 13 or older and have ever wanted to try learning guitar, this class is for YOU! We’ll show you the basics and we’ll make it fun, not frustrating. We can even loan you a guitar, so there is no need to invest in one before deciding if it’s for you. The cost is $40.00; please contact Pastor Kerry for more details or to sign-up.
Chuckwagon Cookout - Saturday, May 10 (10:00 AM – 3:00 PM)
The Chuckwagon Cookout is IdRaHaJe's annual Campership fundraiser. Come enjoy going down our "Big Zip," be part of the live auction, and enjoy a free BBQ lunch! We believe that every kid should have the opportunity to come and hear a clear presentation of the Gospel. There are endless opportunities to volunteer at this event such as a cook, helping with parking, gate greeter, carnival, arts and crafts, zipline and many more. Please contact Danielle Krajewski at 303-600-8368 or firstname.lastname@example.org to sign up for a day of service and FUN!
