The Scarcest Commodity in the Universe
- Mercy is our only hope vv. 1-4
- Mercy is worth waiting for vv. 5-6
- Mercy is contagious vv. 7-8
Quick Review: Looking back at your notes, was there anything that particularly caught your attention challenged or confused you?
My Story: This week's Psalms of Ascent is an individual lament expressing penitence and trust in God's Mercy. The penitential element is geared toward helping worshipers see themselves as forgiven people, whose only right to enter God's Presence is mercy. Is there any aspect of your life that you need to experience mercy or give mercy? How do you find hope in God's Mercy?
- In v. 1 the Psalmist says that he cries out to God out of the depths. When or how have you cried out to God in your life? What kind of "depths" have you experienced in your life? The Psalmist here is climbing out of the depths of misery over sin, to confession of it, to hope. In what ways have you experienced misery over sin?
- The Psalmist waits for hope in vv. 5-6. In what ways have you waited on the Lord? How have you experienced His hope? Why do we need to wait for this?
- In what ways is the mercy of God a rare commodity in this world? How have you seen this mercy and hope that only comes from God? Do you agree that this is contagious? Or should be? How will you share this hope of God's mercy with someone who needs it this week?

Please attend this meeting and look for ways to fold into the life of our church, as we trust God to fulfill our mission of inviting neighbors to find a home in Christ together.
Three teachers will be needed as September approaches within the Children’s Ministry department. If you have a love for God and a love for children, please consider contacting our Director of Children’s Ministry, Maryjean Fowler, to discuss the available positions and how you might help this Fall!
