PRETENDERS...NOT THE REAL THING, JOHN 10:7-10
The Big Idea: Jesus is the door that provides exclusive access to eternal life.
Thieves and Robbers (v 8)
All who came before
Steal, kill and destroy
- The Door (v 9)
- Where have you seen our culture echo the idea that there can’t be only one true religion? Are all religions viable pathways to a relationship with God?
- Jesus tells of others who try to enter the sheep fold by stealth. Who are the enemies of God’s people and what are they characterized by? Why is their teaching so dangerous?
- Salvation means to “save from danger, to keep safe and sound.” How is salvation a past event, a present process, and a future anticipation?
THE GATHERING: MARRIAGE SERIES
The Gathering is a highly interactive small group that meets every Sunday, is always “open” and welcomes guests and visitors. Each month a different topic is discussed. In April the focus is marriage. What works well in marriage and what does not? Different couples from Aspen Ridge will discuss what they have found strengthens their marriage as well as pitfalls to avoid. Come join us at 9:00 AM downstairs in room 104.
SPRING SERIES: HEALING FOR THE SPIRITUALLY BURNED
Our new teaching series is in full-swing. Last week Pastor Jeff shared how Jesus wants to heal the spiritually burned and wants to use us to bring healing to the world. Don’t miss out on the rest of this important series.
SMALL GROUPS AVAILABLE
Please sign up! Small groups begin this week and coordinate with our message series entitled “Healing for the Spiritually Burned.” Please refer to the small group insert in your bulletin or the website at AspenRidgeChurch.org under the “groups and classes” tab.
Are you a graduating senior of high school or college? Do you know a graduating senior? If so, please send those names to the church office.
On May 18 and 19 all high school and college graduates will be recognized during the services. Be here so you don’t miss out!
Mothers of Preschoolers is winding down for the year, but it’s not too late to enjoy some much needed fellowship with other moms. On April 23, join them for “Jazz and Java.” May 14 will be a “Farewell Luau” to end the regular meetings. As summer approaches, however, don’t despair. MOPS moms and kids will continue to have park days every Tuesday at 10:00 AM. June gatherings will be at Marshdale Park and July will be at Kittredge Park.
NATIONAL DAY OF PRAYER
Thursday, May 2, is the 62nd annual National Day of Prayer. This year at Aspen Ridge, existing small groups will focus on acknowledging this National event by praying for our community, our state and our country. For more information visit the website, nationaldayofprayer.org.
APRIL MINISTRY HIGHLIGHT: CHILDREN’S MINISTRY
Vacation Bible School is June 17-21 from 8:45 AM - 12:00 PM. The theme is Go Fish's, "Gotta Move," designed to give children an understanding of what it means to be a Christian and to walk with God. Through each lesson children will see that God provides everything we need to be close to Him. He does require a response, however. Having faith means that we Gotta Move! The fun is not just for kids, though. We need special people to volunteer for this exciting week of ministering to children. Join the adventure and sign up at the VBS table in the lobby!
DENVER MISSION TRIP
A deposit of $50 is due Sunday, May 12, for the Middle School and High School Students who are going on the trip this summer. The team will work with impoverished people of all ages.
