Dear friend of Aspen Ridge Church,
Alongside our transition in the Worship Arts department, our leadership has been working to secure the needed leadership for this important aspect of our church life. In light of this, I am pleased to introduce to you Matt Johnson, our new Interim Director of Worship Arts. Matt came to us through a recommendation from Sally Morganthaler, our search consultant, and with the unanimous recommendation of our (existing) search team. He will formally begin his responsibilities on Monday, September 25.
Matt is an experienced worship leader, music producer and recording artist. He is also a composer and song writer. He runs a side business creating audio productions, mixing and mastering commercials for the NFL, NBA, NCAA, NHL and MLS. He has a BA degree in Religion from St. Olaf College, where he studied philosophy, voice, music theory and music composition. He was also a 2-year member and soloist in the St. Olaf Choir. Here is a link to a video Matt made a couple of months ago:
Matt has been on the worship staff at Flatirons Community Church and Interim Worship Director at Deer Creek Church. In his interim role at Aspen Ridge Church, Matt will be responsible for the Worship Arts department. God willing, he will carry this responsibility all the way through until he can pass this forward to our eventual permanent replacement for Worship Arts. As Interim Director of Worship Arts, Matt has agreed not to be a candidate for the full-time permanent position.
In the weeks leading up to Matt’s ministry, we will hear from Danny Byram, a long-time friend of the Aspen Ridge ministry. Danny will lead for two consecutive weekends (September 16/17 and 23/24). This update is in the way of saying that God has provided a way for us to place this aspect of our ministry in skilled hands and we are looking forward to these outstanding contributions.
Pastor Jeff Clark
